Lifestyles editor Jess DeHaven oversees a team of reporters who produce the daily Diem sections, the weekly entertainment guide St. Joe Live and the monthly magazines Kin and Josephine.

A native of Topeka, Kan., she is a 1994 graduate of the University of Kansas with a bachelor of science degree in journalism, news-editorial emphasis.

She joined the News-Press right out of college, working first as a reporter on the city desk covering police, courts and city and county government. On the lifestyles desk, she covered health, religion and home and garden news before being named editor in 2001.

She is a rabid KU basketball fan and views 1988 and 2008 as highlight years in her life. Jess is also an expert on all things 1980s. She and her husband keep busy with their toddler daughter and three cats.
