Oscars! Oscars! Oscars!
Shea reviews his nomination forecast and predicts the winners
My Oscar predictions weren't too far off, although my hopes for "The Hangover" getting some kind of recognition were completely destroyed. Let's review my forecast.
Oscar nomination forecast
Expect some surprises when nominations are announced tomorrow
Everyone may still be buzzing about last night's Grammy Awards, but the Academy Awards are just around the corner. In fact, the Oscar nominees are announced tomorrow. There are a few guarantees ("Avatar" for Best Picture), but there are sure to be a few surprises as well.
Shea's 10 Favorite Films of the Decade
Last week, Blake Hannon contributed a list of his 10 favorite films of the 2000s to this blog. So I thought I'd reveal my 10 faves, too.
Blake's 10 Favorite Films of the Decade
As if you needed one more "end of decade" list to look at
OK, let me make something perfectly clear. I'm not going to tell you what movies are the absolute best of the decade from an artistic standpoint. For example, I know that "There Will Be Blood" (2007) is a monumental achievement and has "college film course research paper" written all over it for its abundant symbolism, exquisite cinematography, Jonny Greenwood's mesmerizing musical score and Daniel Day-Lewis' once-in-a-generation performance... but whatever, it's not making my list. The films below are the ones this past decade that hit me the hardest, caused me to laugh the loudest and ultimately kept me coming back for multiple viewings. For entertainment value or dramatic power, these 10 flicks will be forever what I recall of the '00s best offerings.

"Lifelong Road Trip" follows the lives of the Nace Brothers
Every person in the Nace family has had music pumping through their veins. From violinist Valandingham Nace to bluegrass fiddler Percy Nace and '60s rockabilly smash Johnny Nace, the family has been heavily influenced. And for the last three decades, David and Jimmy Nace have been carrying on that tradition.
Goodbye, Sacred Heart
I know I usually discuss movies in this blog, but last night I watched something truly extraordinary. It was what may be the last episode of one of TV's modern comedy classics, "Scrubs." And while ABC discusses bringing back the show for a ninth season, I pray that they don't.
You stay animated, Hollywood.
The Mirage Group is moving forward with a live-action film focusing on the origins of the pizza-loving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This reminds Shea of some other cartoons that should never come to life.
