"One of my favorites I'd like to nominate is Goochy Goo BBQ in Savannah, Mo. They have excellent barbecue, but my favorite item is pork nachos. They serve smoked pulled pork over tortilla chips, covered with melted Monterrey Jack cheese and served with sliced jalapenos. You can then choose which type of Goo (barbecue sauce) to drizzle over the top - Goo (original), Sweet Goo, or Spicy Goo ... the spicy is best!"

The pork nachos began simply as something different to serve during the Savannah High School 100-year class reunion last year, says Goochy Goo BBQ owners Michael and Dee Ventucci. They wanted something easy to hold for carry out, but not the same nachos as everyone else has.

Once they tried the creamy Monterrey Jack cheese on top of their smoked pulled pork and tortilla chips, they knew they had a winner. In fact, the enough-for-two-or-more nachos for $4.99 is now one of the most popular dishes on their menu.

Also new on the menu is chili made with brisket for 99 cents a cup and some tempting desserts, such as pie and brownies. Of course, on the Goochy Goo menu you will still find their signature smoked brisket, ribs, pork and turkey in sandwiches or Grab-N-Go wraps, served with your choice of three different kinds of goo (barbecue sauce): basic goo, sweet goo and spicy goo. Make it a meal with coleslaw, baked beans, potato casserole or potato salad sides. Then eat it inside on the family friendly picnic tables where they have chalk boards on the walls for kids to draw on. Or order for carry-out. They also do catering.

Goochy Goo is open 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays; 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, and credit cards are accepted. Want to know more? Goochy Goo BBQ is now on Facebook.
