Now that the summer movie season is officially over, it's time for dramas, family flicks and Oscar contenders to start invading the theaters. Here is a preview of the mainstream films coming to a theater near you this fall.

Fame

SEPT. 25: "Fame" (PG) - A reinvention of the original Oscar-winning hit film, "Fame" follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts, a diverse, creative powerhouse where students from all walks of life are given a chance to live out their dreams and achieve real and lasting fame. Pandorum

SEPT. 25: "Pandorum" (R) - Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. It's pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the spacecraft. They can't remember anything, including who they are. The only way out of the chamber is a dark and narrow airshaft. Corporal Bower (Ben Foster), the younger of the two, crawls inside, while the other, Lt. Payton (Dennis Quaid), stays behind for guidance on a radio transmitter. As Bower ventures deeper and deeper into the ship, he begins to uncover a terrifying reality. SEPT. 25: "Surrogates" (PG-13) - In the future, people are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates: Sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It's an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don't exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer (Bruce Willis) discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery. The Invention of Lying

OCT. 2: "The Invention of Lying" (PG-13) - This film takes place in an alternate reality where lying, oreven the concept of a lie, does not exist. Everyone, from politicians to advertisers to the man and woman on the street, speaks the truth and nothing but the truth with no thought of the consequences. But when a down-on-his-luck loser named Mark (Ricky Gervais) suddenly develops the ability to lie, he finds that dishonesty has its rewards. OCT. 2: "Whip It!" Couples Retreat

The Stepfather

OCT. 16: "The Stepfather" (PG-13) - David (Dylan Walsh) is a "family values" man who mysteriously comes into the lives of single mothers with children and becomes the dream man they always wanted. The Blind Side

NOV. 20: "The Blind Side" (Not yet rated) - This film depicts the remarkable true story of current Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher (played by Quentin Aaron), a homeless black youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential.
