Austen in Atchison

Theatre Atchison, in partnership with the Benedictine College Theatre Department, is bringing Jane Austen's classic novel "Pride and Prejudice" to its stage. Performances will be at 8 p.m. on Nov. 13, 14, 20 and 21 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 15 and 22 at Theatre Atchison, 401 Santa Fe in Atchison. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students. Call Theatre Atchison's box office at (913) 367-SHOW (7469) for reservations. Ushers also are needed for all six performances. Call (913) 367-1647 for usher openings. "Pride and Prejudice" is the second show in Theatre Atchison's 2009-2010 season, and season memberships may still be purchased. Prices for season memberships are $40 for adults or $24 for students.

Art for the Health of It winners announced

The winners of the 47th Art for the Health of It exhibit were announced during a reception at East Hills Library recently. The Allied Arts Council, East Hills Library and Heartland Health co-sponsor the semiannual event. Beth Barbosa won Best of Show for her painting entitled "Jude." Other painting category winners were: Reid Woodbury, third place; and Max King, second place. Winners in the photography category were: Donna Jean Boyer, third place; Jim Fly, second place; and Loita Karen Anderson, first place. Mickey Hosman took first place in the drawing category, and Nancy Clisbee won first and second places in the other/mixed media category. The winners in the student division were: Faith Williams, Rushville, third place; Mackenzie Clary, Troy, second place; Savanna Law, Atchison, first place.

The artwork is on display at East Hills Library and Heartland Health until Jan. 4.

M is for murder ... and mystery

The Mystery Train kicks off its holiday season tonight with "Dressed to Kill," an interactive murder-mystery game performed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings through Jan. 2. Each evening begins with role-playing and cocktails at 6:30 p.m. The mystery show follows at 7 p.m. Cost is $54 per person on Thursdays and $65 on Fridays and Saturdays. The Hollywood Room, 100 E. 20th St. in Kansas City, will host the opening weekend. Other locations include Finnigan's Hall in North Kansas City, The Iron House in Parkville and Californos in Westport.
