If you want to go to a place that has good deli sandwiches and great live music, then Magoon’s is the place to go.
I stopped by there the other day to have lunch, and I ordered the beef melt while my wife went with the Russian reuben. The beef melt comes with your choice of bread (I went with wheat), spicy mustard and pepper jack cheese — and all this on top of smoked barbecue brisket. The homemade barbecue sauce, smoked brisket and spicy mustard makes this one great sandwich. The Russian reuben is not the ordinary reuben. It has Russian dressing instead of thousand island dressing, which makes it a little tangier.
The cook, Pawel Felling, is an old school friend of mine, and he is the guy behind these great tasting sandwiches. One thing that makes all this go together is the whole ambiance of Magoon’s, from the old booths to all the old whiskey bottles to the beer bottles. We really enjoyed walking around and looking at all the cool stuff.
