Salsa Dog
802 S. 10th St., 364-3701
I was talking to my neighbor a few weeks ago and he told me about this little place on 10th Street that had great hot dogs, so I decided to take my 11-year-old daughter with me and check this place out.
What a neat little hot dog place.
My daughter ordered the St. Joe Dog that comes with a 1/4-pound Nathan’s all-beef hot dog, mustard, homemade salsa, homemade chili, shredded cheese and ketchup. Since I like slaw, I went with the Cincinnati Dog, which comes with a 1/4-pound dog, homemade chili, coleslaw and mustard with celery salt. I had them put it on a poppy seed bun instead of the regular bun to hold in the slaw better.
I must say, my daughter loved the taste of the chili/salsa combination. The salsa gives the chili a little zing when biting into it, which blends it all together for a great taste, and the Cinci dog with the slaw/chili is a refreshing taste. On the menu they have a great selection of hot dogs, polish sausage, chips and salsa, baked beans, chili and slaw. Now, I really used to like someone else’s chili dogs, but I think Salsa Dog has a good shot at having the best chili dogs in town. Salsa Dog does not have inside seating, but there are picnic tables outside to sit and enjoy your dogs on a nice day.
