In a world...where the voice of movie trailers is no longer with us

You may or may not have heard, but Don LaFontaine, the voice of over 5,000 movie trailers, died yesterday from complications during the treatment of an undisclosed illness. He was 68.

With his rich baritone voice, LaFontaine was tabbed to voice many trailers ranging from dramas such as "The Godfather" to slapstick comedies like "Home Alone," and, of course, action flicks like "The Terminator" in which he coined the phrase: "In a world..."

I can honestly say I will miss his work. He considered himself a "voice actor" rather than an announcer and I'd have to agree. Although he had a signature voice, he could adjust the range for just about any movie trailer.

I found an interesting video about Don LaFontaine here. I really enjoyed it and I hope you do too.
