Move over Michael, there's a new Air in town

After months and months of rumors Apple has finally released its much anticipated MacBook Air. The world's thinnest notebook.

I had been browsing through various Mac rumor sites for the past couple of months and I had already seen all the rumors that surrounded the MacBook Air. Needless to say, I was not surprised when it was finally revealed at MacWorld yesterday. What did surprise me was how small this thing actually was.

I expected to see something thin, but I definitely did not expect to see something that only weighed in at a whopping 3 lbs. It's highest point is only 0.76 inch! That's not even a full inch!

Sure, this announcement is nowhere near this time last year when Apple sent shock waves through the electronic industry by showcasing its brand new iPhone, but the Air should not be taken lightly (no pun intended).

The MacBook Air could really be a step toward a different direction in how we both define and use our home computers. One thing that Apple has always been great at is releasing products that pack a big punch and can easily be taken anywhere you want. The iMac and iPod are two other examples of Apple's success with big packages built into small products.

This shows a separation from people only using their electronics in the comfort of their home. Apple's success with portable electronics proves that more and more people are taking their computing experience outside of their home and using them wherever they want.

The future of these kind of products is still up for debate, but with more and more computers like this being released I think it's easy to see what people want. At least I know what I want.
