Red Lobster
The location of Red Lobster right off of Interstate 29 and the Frederick Boulevard exit makes it a natural stop for travelers. But the restaurant also has a good base of locals, says Kelly Gosney, general manager. They come for the fresh, never frozen, fish and lobster right out of the tank. The most popular dish, Mr. Gosney says, is the shrimp scampi. It was recommended as a Best Bite by a News-Press reader because of the sauce.

Flee the Seen at The Scallywag, The Melismatics at The 'Vous
Two incredible bands, two venues, one awesome night
My ears are still ringing from the audio assault my ears endured this weekend. It is not too common for there to be two exceptional bands playing in St. Joe within two blocks of each other, but that was the case this past Saturday when Flee the Seen performed at The Scallywag while the Minneapolis quartet, The Melismatics played later down the street at The Vous. It is safe to say that catching these two bands in one night gave me my most satisfying live music night in St. Joe thus far.

Joe Mizzery Crew at Club Latino Mundo
I know that I am very late getting this in, considering that I saw this show last Friday, but I promise I will be more up-to-date at this.

Grumpy's Pizza
I couldn't help but ask Mark Weber what was behind the name of his pizza place called Grumpy's. I figured it had to be a nickname with a great story. He says he just got the idea from a pub in Sun Valley, Idaho. But after talking to him, I think it also could be inspired by his feelings about Dr. Adkins.

The Killers in KC...a prediction
For concert-goers' sake, The Killers had better kill live
Since I touched down in St. Joe, I can't go more than a week without hearing about the fact that The Killers are coming to Kansas City on May 11. People are pumped to see these neo-new wave darlings turned big, bombastic rock stars live.

Kings of Leon at the Voodoo Lounge
Braving illness, the Kings deliver Southern throwdown rock
After spending the first hour at Harrah's North Kansas City losing money on the roulette wheel and penny slots, I realized Vince Vaughn would not have said "Baby, you're so money and you don't even know it." Luckily, my financial losses couldn't take away from the fact that I had a ticket to see Nashville's favorite indie rock sons, Kings of Leon, at the Voodoo Lounge this past Sunday. The venue itself was quite swanky and obviously stole some decor from the House of Blues. They had plenty of flat screens, a general admission area with a few standing tables and two bars with bartenders embarrassingly pulling off more tricks than Tom Cruise in "Cocktail."

Geneo's Pizza and Pub
The interior of Geneo's Pizza and Pub at 811 Francis St. has the decor and character that only a downtown building can provide: worn oak floors, high ceilings, architectural detail and some modern touches like etched mirrors and stained-glass windows. Locals may remember it as Dante's, Grub Steakhouse, or before that, Horsefeathers and Lace, among other names.
