San Jose Steakhouse and Mexican Grill
San Jose Steakhouse looks like it belongs on a ranch in Mexico instead of off 169 Highway in St. Joseph. But that's not really surprising considering restaurant owner Manuel Enriquez was raised on a 300-head cattle ranch in Durango, Mexico. Actor John Wayne had a ranch right next to it, Manuel says. He used to watch him film movies there.

Adam's Bar and Grill
Outside of Adam's Bar and Grill on Commercial Street in St. Joseph, there isn't much to look at -- just railroad tracks and the big, metal storage facilities of Lifeline Foods (formerly Ouaker Oats). But once inside, it's dinner at the oasis with two 8-foot lighted palm trees in the bar and all kinds of sports and toy collectibles throughout. Don't worry -- the giant parrot dangling from the ceiling and the bullfrog lounging behind the bar are not real.

Ground Round
You could say the Ground Round is a St. Joseph landmark as much as it is a restaurant and bar. It's the place to meet up with friends because everyone knows where it's at. Even if you're new to town, you've most likely seen it on the northwest corner of the East Hills Shopping Center parking lot, across from J.C. Penney's.
